PandoraLore / WeaponAbilities

Introduction

General Info

Weapon Abilities (or: Special Moves) are special attacks you can use with your weapons. Each weapon
has different weapon abilities. Some are the same for different weapons, others are unique or are in different
combinations.

These Special Moves enable you to do additional damage, apply damage over time or activate specific effects that
are beneficial for you and in any case badfor your opponent.

This Guide will cover all Weapon Abilities existing on Pandora.

Basics

This Guide will describe all Special Moves and give additional information if necessary.

Activating a Special Move

To activate a Special Move you have to press the assigned Hotkey on your Keyboard. If you successfully hit your target,
the Special Move will be applied, including all effects.
You can assign Hotkeys on UO Steam or via the Paperdoll Options (Macros) in the game.

Once you hit your target and the Special Move has been applied, it will be inactive. You would have to press the Hotkey again
to reapply it with a successful hit.

Special Moves and Spells

You can't activate a Special Move and a Spell the same time. This means you can't attack a target with a Special Move and cast
at the same time! You can only do one or the other. Of course you can cast a spell and then hit your target with a Special Move
or the other way around to land some interesting effective combinations of the two.

Note that attacks with your Weapon and Bushido or Ninjitsu Abilities are considered to be Spells.

Mana Cost

Like Spells all Special Moves cost Mana. The property "Lower Mana Cost" (LMC) will reduce these costs!

Damage and Resistances

Each time you receive damage it will be reduced by Resistances, depending on the damagetype (the element) hitting you.

Direct Damage

Some Special Moves apply Direct Damage: This means a form of damage that is not reduced by Resistances.

List of Special Moves

The following list describes all available Special Moves and necessary information on those.

Armor Ignore (AI)

Hitting your target with AI will ignore the target's Physical Resistance and do high damage. The damage is higher on
Melee Weapons than on Ranged Weapons.
While it is certainly a good Special Move for PvP it is a must have for PvM.

Bleed Attack

This applies bonus direct damage over time for a few seconds. Works together with the property "Blood Drinker" and
"Splintering Weapon".

Crushing Blow

A successful hit will apply a damage bonus against your target. If the weapon you use is slower than 3,5 Weapon Speed
it drains Stamina points from your target.

Concussion Blow

This deals direct damage to your target, based on the difference between current Health and Mana. The damage is higher the
higher that difference is.

Disarm

Disarms your opponent who is then unable to reequip his weapon for a few seconds. Then an immunity timer of a few seconds is active.
Does not work together with "Splintering Weapon".

Dismount

A successful hit knocks your opponent off his mount (real or ethereal). After being dismounted the opponent can't remount for a short
duration. This works only if the attacker is dismounted. Does not work on Gargoyles.
You can't dismount Gargoyles. To "ground" them ("disfly" so to speak) use an Anti-Air Net.
If both opponents use a Lance they can try dismounting each other while being mounted.
You can also use Bolas to dismount a target: Double-click the Bolas, target your opponent (or make a Steam Macro). Have to be dismounted yourself.

Double Strike

After activation the next successful hit will be followed by a second attack: You strike at your target twice with one swing. Of course
both swings can be parried as usual. There is a damage penalty of 10% on Double Strike.

Infectious Strike

A successful hit will apply Poison on your target, additionally to the damage. The weapon has to be poisoned.
To poison a weapon, craft Poison with the Alchemy Skill, then use the Poisoning Skill and target your weapon. If you
double-click the Poison Potion you will drink it - don't do that...
Each hit uses a Poison Charge.

Mortal Strike

Applies a mortal wound on your target when successfully hit. This prevents your target from healing (not from curing poison). Has to be
removed via Enchanted Apples or Remove Curse or will last for a few seconds.
After that a period of cooldown will begin. During that time another hit with Mortal Strike will deal additional damage!

Paralyzing Blow

Makes your target unable to move or attack or cast a spell for a few seconds. Basically breaks when you damage the target.
Not very useful.

Shadow Strike

A successful hit gives bonus damage and makes the attacker invisible. This is a "stealth attack".

Whirlwind Attack

Attacks and damages multiple adjacent targets, for example in large spawns. Works efficient in combination with Hit Area Effects.
You can't harm Party-, Guild or Alliance Members.
More effective in combination with Bushido!

Armor Pierce

Applies 50% of the total damage as direct damage.

Block

The next hit will do reduced damage on you as your DCI is boosted. The same time you receive a penalty on HCI. Scales with Ninjitsu and
Bushido Skill. The damage you deal, while under the effect, is also reduced. Works in combination with Parry.

Defense Mastery

Successful use will increase your Physical Resistance over cap for a few seconds but reduce the damage you deal on your opponent.

Dual Wield

Will enable you to do extra attacks with reduced damage up to two additional times (stackable).

Double Shot

Allows you to fire two arrows at once on your target, therefore more damage. Only on one weapon: Yumi (ranged).

Feint

Upon activation all kinds of damage against you is reduced by 50% for a few seconds.

Frenzied Whirlwind

Similar to Whirlwind. Deals damage to multiple targets, based on Bushido and Ninjitsu Skill. Deals less damage than Whirlwind, but slows targets.

Nerve Strike

Applies direct damage and has a chance to paralyze your target for a few seconds, based on your Bushido Skill.

Riding Swipe

Dismounts your target if you are dismounted. If you are mounted it will stun your target.

Talon Strike

A successful hit applies a bonus damage and damage over time. Also gives your target a negative HP Regeneration for a short time.

Bladeweave

Applies one of the following Special Moves on your target (random):
Armor Ignore, Bleed Attack, Block, Crushing Blow, Concussion Blow, Double Strike, Feint, Mortal Strike or Paralyzing Blow.

Force Arrow

A successful hit will "confuse" your target with the following effects:
Spell Interruption, DCI Malus, more damage against your target, target falls into peace mode.

Force of Nature

This applies direct damage on the attacker (!). The attacker receives a damage bonus though and stuns his target.

Lightning Arrow

Only on Magical Shortbow. Applies energy damage on multiple targets. Are of Effect like Whirlwind. Works with Hit Area Effects.
Doesn't use Ammo, instead uses Mana!

Moving Shot

You can attack your target while moving. Only Ranged Weapons. Applies Physical Damage, regardless of damagetypes, spells and other
measures to change the damage. Reduces attackers HCI.

Psychic Attack

Can be applied multiple times (stacks):
Reduces the target's SDI, also highers its Mana Costs. If stacked, it effectively pushes target's Mana to zero.

Serpent Arrow

Poisons your target, does not need Poison Charges.

Infused Throw

Only for Throwing (Gargoyles):
Stuns or dismounts the target.

Mystic Arc

After hitting the target the projectile will hit a second target. You can only hit targets that are in combat with you!
The damage applied is always Chaos Damage (random elemental damage, including physical).
Only Throwing (Gargoyles).

Bushido and Ninjitsu

Bushido and Ninjitsu, while mostly relying on a Weapon in your hands in order to work, are considered to be similar to
magical skills. They don't work once you are already casting a spell.

For both Skills you need Books, similar to Spellbooks, but they are already filled with the respective Abilities.
You can get a Bushido Book from Scribe NPC's in Tokuno, the same goes for the Ninjitsu Book. It is also possible to
loot a Bushido Book from Ronins and a BNinjitsu Book from Ninjas.

To activate a Bushido or Ninjitsu Ability you have to press the assigned Hotkey. You can setup Hotkeys in UO Steam or in the
game via the Paperdoll Options (Macros).

Note that, similar to Spells vs Special Moves, activating a Bushido or Ninjitsu Ability will cancel spells and Weapon Special Moves.

Bushido

General Info

Bushido is the Main Skill of the "Samurai" and features mostly defensive Abilities but also some actions that can kill an enemy
quickly and raise your damage.

Bushido Features and Advantages

A high Bushido Skill gives you the following advantages:

Parrying
With a high Bushido and Parrying Skill you are able to block Melee Attacks with a Weapon. Works better with Two Handed Weapons.
You can't parry ranged attacks, and using Bushido for Parrying lowers your chances to parry with a Shield: This also means that you
will not parry with Bushido once you are holding a Shield in your hands; your Parrying chances with a Shield are lower than with a weapon.

Evasion
This is a Bushido Ability that has to be activated via a Hotkey or be part of a UO Steam Macro for example.
Evasion enables you to evade Spells and therefore avoid Spell Damage!

Perfection (Honor)
By achieving Perfection you are able to deal more damage on creatures (PvM only!). To activate it, you have to use a Hotkey or create
a Macro in UO Steam to use the Virtue "Honor":
Honoring a target will grant you more damage with each hit until you reach "Perfection". You have then reached the current maximum damage rate
against the honored target. If the target dies while you achived Perfection, you gain in Honor.
You can use this Virtue and "honor yourself" to be ignored by monsters for a period of time - this will decrease your Honor. You can obviously
regain it by using Honor on creatures. (The damage raise against enemy creatures is obviously the purpose of Honor and Perfection.)
You can only honor a target that is on full Health. Honor will also give you a Luck Boost for the time being.

Whirlwind Damage Increase
While using a Two Handed Weapon with the Whirlwind Special Move you receive a damage bonus.

Reduced Mana Cost
A reduced cost on Special Moves can be achieved my a maximized Bushido Skills plus several other Combat and Magical Skills to a total of 200 points and more.

Lesser Hiryu
With a Bushido Skill of 90+ it is possible to use the Bushido Skill instead of Animal Taming to ride and control Lesser Hiryus.

Bushido Abilities

The following Abilities require Hotkeys or a UO Steam Macro.

Honorable Execution

This is a killing move. A successful use will give you a Swing Speed Bonus and restore some Health. If you miss
you lose magic resistance and other resistances for some time.

Counter Attack

When activated this places you in a defensive stance: The next time you successfully parry you will counter attack without
using your normal attack per swing - can miss.

Confidence

In this defensive stance you regain Stamina and Hitpoints with each successful Parry. After activation it also increases
your HP and Stam Regeneration for a few seconds.

Evasion

See above.

Momentum Strike

A successful hit on your target applies a second hit to an adjacent enemy - you can miss. If your first target dies you
receive a damage bonus on your second target.
(Can be used to tier Weapons that have no Whirlwind, in Spawns.)

Lightning Strike

You attack with a small bonus on your HCI. Although while the HCI cap still applies it can be used to "counter" when get hit by
Hit Lower Attack of an enemy weapon.
Can also trigger a damage bonus, leading to a Critical Hit.

Ninjitsu

General Info

Ninjitsu is the Main Skill of the "Ninja", using techniques of Stealth and Assassination leading to surprise attacks or additional damage.

Ninjitsu Abilities

The following Abilities must be activated by a Hotkey or a UO Steam Macro. Some of them require Weapons, others
work more like Spells but can have effects on Combat.
Many of these Abilities require having a good Hiding and Stealth Skill!

Animal Form

Transforms you into one of 12 different animals. Each form gives you certain bonuses, some very useful before, during or after
Combat. You can't use any Special Moves or cast anything when in Animal Form except Mirror Image or Shadow Jump.
Find more infos on the animals and bonuses here (external link): http://www.uoguide.com/Animal_Form

Mirror Image

Creates multiple images (illusions) of your character to confuse your enemies. Each Mirror Image will disappear after receiving Damage.

Focus Attack

Gives you a damage bonus and also increases the effectiveness of your Weapon Hit Effects with a better chance to trigger these.

Backstab

You have to use the Stealth Skill in order to sneak up on your enemy. Only then you can activate this Ability and get a bonus damage,
based on your Ninjitsu Skill.

Shadow Jump

While hidden, you can use this ability to "teleport" (jump) considerable distances with a chance to stay hidden upon "landing". Surrounding
enemies will be able to notice a grey cloud once you're jumping, indicating your presence in the area.
Can be used to prepare other attacks and abilities.

Surprise Attack

Inflicts a penalty on your target's DCI when successfully hit, for a short duration. Can only be used when stealthed!

Ki Attack

After activation you have to be quick:
Activate it, then move quickly towards your target to close the distance between you two. Only then you land a hit and get bonus damage.
The farther you you have to move to deliver the hit, the higher the damage bonus will be - and all this before the timer runs out.

Death Strike

Five seconds after a successful hit your target will receive additional damage. The damage is based on your Ninjitsu and Hiding/Stealth Skills.
If your target moved after the hit the additional damage will be higher. Ranged Weapons do 50% of the additional damage.
