TrainingRoom / NecromancyGuide

Introduction

Necromancy is a Magical Skill evolving around dark harmful Spells, Debuffs and Summoning Evil Creatures and the Dead.
Some of these Spells are very powerful but always come with a cost - which is not only Mana.

Necromancer Spellbook

In order to be able to cast Necromancy Spells you need a Necromancer Spellbook. You can purchase the book
at a Necromancer NPC or from other Players or craft yourself.
You find Necromancer NPC's for example in Umbra.
The Spells in form of Scrolls you buy from Players or loot from monsters.

Karma

What is Karma?

While high Karma is needed to make Chivalry Spells more effective the opposite goes for low or negative Karma:
The lower your Karma the more effective your Necromancy Spells will be. Casting Necromancy Spells lets you lose Karma.

How do I gain or lose Karma?

Gaining Karma

The Maximum Karma you can have is 15,000, the Minimum is -15,000. You can check your current Karma ingame by typing [mystats.

You collect Karma by killing evil (red) creatures, criminal (red) players (murderers).

Losing Karma

You lose Karma by casting Necromancy Spells, killing Innocents (Blue Players), creating and applying Poison or using Thievery.

Locking Karma

You can lock your Karma at an Ankh, but this only works into the negative direction:
You would still lose Karma but not gain any Karma - this is for Necromancy users.

Note that on Pandora there is no Skill Caps; you can play everything you want. Which means even when
using Necromancy you want to rely on Chivalry too. So try keep your Karma in Balance if you prefer both!

Mana Cost

Necromancy Spells cost Mana like other Magical Skills.

Lower Mana Cost (LMC) works with Necromancy, so does Lower Reagent Cost (LRC).

Necromancy Spells

Activation

You activate Necromancy Spells via ingame Hotkeys or UO Steam Hotkeys and Macros. Activating such a Spell will cancel every other Spell you had activated
via Hotkeys, including Weapon Abilities (Special Moves), Ninjitsu and Bushido.

List of Necromancy Spells

This list will describe all available Necromancy Spells:

Curse Weapon

You enchant your weapon to activate Life Drain for a short duration.

Blood Oath

Any damage dealt to you will be dealt back on your target. This means you receive the full damage, but so does your victim.
Keep in mind that some Monsters and Bosses also use this Spell. If this happens, use an Enchanted Apple or cast "Remove Curse"
(Chivalry) and step back from your opponent, if necessary tab out of War or Peace Mode!

Corpse Skin

Your target becomes more vulnerable against Fire and Poison Damage. You can combine this spell with Poison or Fireball and other
fitting elemental damage Spells.

Evil Omen

After casting the Spell the next "bad thing" happening to the target will be worse:
The next damage source against the victim will be 25% worse.
The next time the target is poisoned, the Poison Level will be +1.
Resisting Spells will only have 50% of its effectivity the next time a Spell goes against the target.

Pain Spike

Applies damage on your target for 10 seconds. If you hit your target within the duration with Pain Spike again,
additional direct damage will be applied.

Wraith Form

Transforms the caster into a Wraith with the following effects:
High Mana Leech directly form your current target
Ability to walk through Players and Monsters in Felucca
+ 15% Physical Resist
- 5% Fire and Energy Resist
+25% Damage from Weapons with Undead Slayer

Mind Rot

Raises the Mana Costs of your target.

Summon Familiar

Summons a pet. There are different species you can summon. Each has its own abilities:
Horde Minion: Assists in Battle and works as a Pack Animal
Shadow Wisp: "Heals" Mana of the Caster and his allies, only if negative Karma
Dark Wolf: Stamina Regeneration Boost, taming wolves becomes very easy
Death Adder: Snake Charming Ability, you can command Snakes (they could also attack the caster!)

Animate Dead

Revives dead creatures to fight by your side.

Horrific Beast

You transform into a Beast with higher HP Regeneration and physical attacks.

Poison Strike

Your target and nearby enemies receive Poison Damage.

Wither

Deals ground damage (AoE) against all valid targets in the area.
Very effective in Spawns.

Strangle

Your target is cursed. Also receives Poison Damage over time.

Lich Form

You transform into a Lich and gain very high Mana Regeneration.

Exorcism

Ghosts (dead Players) without a Corpse are transported to the Chaos Shrine.

Vengeful Spirit

Summons a Revenant who will attack a target of your choice.

Vampiric Embrace

Transforms you into a Vampire with the following effects:
20% Life Drain
+15 Stamina Reg and +5 Mana Reg
Immunity against Poison: immune against all Poison except Level 6 and higher (Deadly Poison has a 25% chance to go through)
Inability to use cure Potions
Damage from Spells that use Garlic as a Reagent (when you cast, LRC does not matter!)
-25% Fire Resist (Overcap can counter)
+25% Damage from Weapons with Undead Slayer
This Spell is very helpful in PvM, especially in hard fights and Spawns. It can be deadly for you in PvP though.

Training Necromancy

Here is what you cast depending on your Skill Level. To go over 120 try recast the last Spell or get Scrolls of Transcendency!

0 - 40: Train at Necromancer NPC in New Haven
40 - 50: Cast Pain Spike on yourself
50 - 70: Cast Horrific Beast
70 - 90: Cast Wither
90 - 100: Cast Lich Form
100 - 120: Cast Vampiric Embrace

To train make sure you have LRC and LMC maxed. Also get as much Mana Regeneration as possible, use Meditation if needed!
