Introduction

Pure Mages

While Pandora is a Server with no Skill Cap and many other Stats are also uncapped, it is still possible to
concentrate fully on the path of Magic. This is where "Pure Mages" as a stand alone Class come into play.

Pure Mages have a different setup of Stats and Equipment, in order to solely rely on Magic. While it is definately
more expensive and more work to skill, set up and play a Pure Mage the pay off is fantastic:
You do a ton of damage on your targets (PvM and PvP). The downside obviously is that you are a "Glass Cannon", meaning
while dealing high damage you also can die faster than the usual Pandorian Characters who can be called "Hybrids" as they
are a mix of Dexxers, Tanks and Casters.

But while these "Hybrids", the usual Characters on Pandora, can deal high damage with Melee and Ranged Weapons their Spell
Damage in PvM and PvP is much lower than a Pure Mage can achieve.

Requirements

Stats

When playing and training a Pure Mage your Main Stat will always be Intelligence (Int). You have to get your Int as high as possible
to get access to the full potential of Spell Penetration (see below), which is one of the features of Pure Mages on Pandora:
Getting a massive damage bonus on Spell Damage.

Intelligence (Int)

When setting up and training your Pure Mage always keep in mind that Int is his Main Stat. It has to be as high as possible, without
completely neglecting your Dexterity and Strength.
As a rule of thump:
Always primarily concentrate on raising your Intelligence, the next Stat will be your Dexterity and lastly your Strength (for survival, HP).
Get items (artifacts) that give you Int Bonuses, concentrate on the respective Imbuing, try get Bonuses from the Void Pool (see below).
There are specific Artifacts for Pure Mages that can raise your Int dramatically (see below).

Dexterity (Dex)

This is the second Stat you have to concentrate on, for keeping your Bandage Speed up.

Strength (Str)

This is the third Stat. Keep it lower than Dexterity, but keep in mind that you need Strength for your Healthpoints!

Setting up your Stats

When creating your Character it's okay to balance your three Stats, so you have "some of everything". Over time you will shift to
prioritizing Int over Dex and Str.
Once you have a few Artifacts and Imbues you can start shift to Int and adjust your Stats. Once you used all Stat Scrolls up to
+35, you can start adjusting the three Stats using a Statball and prioritize Int:
Ingame type [mystats and check your Stats. It will show you the Base Stats (without any gear on you) and your Total Stats (with all gear
on you).
Set your Strength to a Base of 10.
Set your Dexterity to a Total of something between 220 and 235.
Everything else goes on Intelligence!
Over time you may have to readjust the Stats again as your items and imbues might change.

Requirement for full Spell Penetration Bonus

To achieve full Spell Penetration (see below) you need a total Intelligence of 400. Looking at possible Debuffs, getting disarmed by
your opponents and other factors your total Intelligence should be around 410 up to 445.
Also one piece of Equipment you will need has a minimum Intelligence Requirement of 380 (see below)!

Gear, Items, Artifacts

The following items give you enough Bonuses on your Intelligence to make your way up to the full Spell Penetration bonus. Some
of the following items are a "must have", this will be noted. Others are just examples to get where you want to be.

Stats on Clothing

In order to get as much Int as possible and keep Dex and Str as high as possible, you should add
these three Stats on your Clothing Items (Bonus on Int, Dex, Str each). Then it will be easier not
only to achieve the Requirements but also to stay alive in certain situations.

Stats via Void Pool Rewards

How to purchase

You can buy Stats on Clothing by spending Void Pool Points on Deeds that will add Bonus on all three
Stats onto your Clothing.
Go to Cove (Trammel) via Moongate and double-click the NPC Vela. Buy the Deeds.
Double-click the Deed, target your Clothing Item and click again.

The Deeds

The Deeds are random, which means it will either be an Int, Dex or Str Bonus Deed. Also the Bonus itself
will be random: +1, +2 or +3.
You will have to keep buying until you have everything you need. Also you have to add the Stats in order:
+1 first, then you can add +2 of the same Stat and then +3 up to a total of +3 in any Stat on any Clothing Item!
You can only add the Bonus on Items that are Tier 5.

Via Void Pool you can achieve a total Bonus of +3 in each of the Stats on each Clothing Item!

Effects

While the Bonus will be there instantly, your item will lose its Tier and will be Tier 0 again. You don't lose any
applied and existing Stats (including imbued) but you will have to tier the Item again to be able to add the next Deed.
This means the process will repeat itself a couple of times.

Stats via Donation

The faster way is to donate to the Server and buy these Stat Bonuses with Pandora Bucks (Pbucks). You can buy a flat +6 for
each of the three Stats for each Clothing Item.
To do so have your PBucks ready in your backpack, including the Clothing Items to put the Bonuses on (also in Backpack). Contact
the Staff via an ingame Page or preferably via a message (DM) on the Pandora Discord Server. Primarily you should contact
King_Kon or - if he is unavailable - GM NollKoll.
In your message include the Items receiving Bonuses, also the Stats and preferably the amount of Pbucks in your backpack. Please be
patient.

Via Donation you can achieve a full Bonus of +6 in each of the Stats on each Clothing Item!

About Donations

When Donating to the Server you receive your Pbucks automatically in your backpack, in a ratio of 1:1 and a 10% Bonus.
Usually Donations work with Paypal, which is perfectly safe. If you prefer other paying methods or having issues with Paypal
please contact King_Kon in a private message (DM) on the Pandora Discord Channel.
All questions and issues considering Donations also go to King_Kon. Everthing will be handled in a discrete and professional manner.

Remember Pandora is 100% free but Donations help the creators maintain the Server, its Services and pay for the Dedicated Server!

Spell Penetration and Other Effects

Spell Penetration

When holding a Spellbook in your hand you will see a red text mentioning and explaining Spell Penetration. The higher the percentage, the
higher is your Spell Penetration. The Maximum Spell Penetration is 15%.
Spell Penetration only applies when holding a Spellbook in your hand!

Effects

Spell Penetration applies an automatic Damage Bonus on all harming Magery Spells, such as Fireball, Flame Strike, Magic Arrow and so on. The
Maximum Damage Output is, as mentioned, 15%.
This is not only a Bonus on the Damage your Spells do but also Direct Damage:
This means not only will you apply the regular already high Spell Damage but you will do extra damage that is not countered by any Resistances. You
will see this ingame once damaging a target: After the "normal" damage numbers are shown, the additional damage is shown in an extra number.
Spell Penetration works in PvM and PvP.
In order to get the Maximum of 15% Spell Penetration your Minimum Total Intelligence has to be 400.

Spell Damage Increase (SDI)

Some of the Artifacts mentioned before, together with imbued SDI will raise your SDI to extremely high levels. This will further improve your Spell Damage!
There is a cap in PvP but in PvM it's uncapped!

High Intelligence

Your high Intelligence will also boost debuffs like Curse (PvM and PvP!), in this case also including Paralyze!

Useful Properties

General Info

There are certain Properties that are found on some of the mentioned items you need or might want to have. While some like SDI are already
explained, others will be described in this section. They will help you survive and being able to cast Spells while under attack. Those work
in PvM and PvP.
They are passive abilities, which means you don't have to actively trigger them!

Properties

Damage Eater

Damage Eaters convert a percentage of the damage taken back to your Health, after receiving the full Damage. They can either work against specific
Elements or be a general Damage Eater. Same Elemental Damage Eaters stack, the general Eater does not stack with those.
If it's unclear which Eater gets triggered, then the highest one will apply!

Casting Focus

This Property grants you a chance to resist any interruption while casting a Spell. The Inscription Skill gives you a bonus on Casting Focus.

Calmful Mind

A bit similar like Casting Focus this also protects you against interruption. Instead of having a chance this Property only works up
to a certain amount of incoming Damage.
Meditation 120 or higher gives you a small Bonus on Calmful Mind (PvM only).

Resonance

This item property protects you against a possible spell casting interruption cause of received damage and is bound to specific elements. This
means that there is a chance in percentage, like Casting Focus, but limited to specific types of damage, based on the respective element:
"Fire Resonance" protects you against Fire Damage, "Poison Resonance" works against Poison Damage and so on!

Soul Charge

This item property protects you from damage: If Soul Charge is triggered the incoming damage is reduced and this amount will be added to your Mana
(not beyond your maximum). The percentage shows the chance to be triggered.
Similar to Resonance this works against specific Elements, unless the item just says "Soul Charge" and no Element.

Reflect Element

Similar to Reflect Physical Damage, which reflects incoming kinetic damage back on the attacker, this works with other Elements. For example
"Reflect Poison" or "Reflect Fire".

Bane

You can put the property "Bane" on Spellbooks to deal additional physical damage once the Target is on 50% Health or less (PvM only). In order
to get "Bane" combine two full (red) Essences of Bane to one "Urn" (so collect 2 x 5 white Essences of Bane from Virtue Bane, combine those to
two red Essences) from Virtue Bane, see Peerless Guide!

Final Questions

How do I tier my items as a Pure Mage?
You tier your items like you also tier your Spellbook:
Hold your Spellbook in hand, the other hand holds a Shield,
preferably Calmness in Calamity or the Arrow Breaker, then
use a UO Steam Macro to cast "Wither" (Necromancy) and "Wildfire"
(Spellweaving).
Activate "Vampiric Embrace" (Necromancy)!

So how do I play, Spellbook and... what?
In one hand you hold your Spellbook, in the other hand a Shield.

I have the Arrow Breaker and also Calmness in Calamity. Which Shield do I use?
This depends on the situation:
If you are under fire by Ranged Weapons you want to use the Arrow Breaker. In other cases
you might want to use Calmness in Calamity for Calmful Mind.
In PvP you can use both, depending on your opponent's weaponry and play style. Don't forget that
the Arrow Breaker has a chance to paralyze your opponent!
In PvM you might wanna use the Calmness in Calamity Shield for the Calmful Mind Bonus.

Since a Pure Mage uses Shields. What's with Bushido?
If you are using a Shield, you cannot use Bushido. Of course you should still skill it. Use Earrings of the Primordial from Void Pool to be able to use a Shield and Bushido!

I will also use Necromancy. So what's with my Chivalry Spells like Remove Curse?
You should keep your Karma maxed.

How do I PvP with a Pure Mage?
This Guide will not answer this for you. You have to experiment and figure it out. Some hints though:
Keep your distance, use Debuffs, try to deal as much damage as possible the fastest way you can.
